What Is VG40 Bitumen?

VG40 (Viscosity Grade 40) bitumen is a highly viscous asphalt binder used primarily in regions with high traffic loads or high temperatures. As per viscosity grading, the number “40” indicates its absolute viscosity range (in poise) at 60°C, which should be between 3200–4000 poise.

This bitumen is a non-penetrating, thermoplastic material that softens when heated and hardens when cooled, making it ideal for creating flexible yet durable pavement structures.
