FAQ
Bitumen FAQs – Everything You Need to Know
Do your bitumen products comply with international quality standards?
Yes, all Black Rock Bitumen products exported from Dubai are tested and certified to meet global standards, including ASTM, EN, and AASHTO. We provide a comprehensive Certificate of Analysis (COA) with every shipment to ensure transparency and performance.
How do I choose the correct bitumen grade for my construction project?
Selection depends on your local climate and traffic loads. Generally, Penetration Grade 60/70 is used for standard road construction, while 80/100 is preferred for cooler climates. Our experts can provide technical consultation to help you select the optimal grade for your specific needs.
What are the available packaging and delivery options for international exports?
- Jumbo Bags – Ideal for bulk orders and easy handling.
- Drums – Secure and convenient for medium-sized shipments.
- Bitutainers – Specialized containers for safe and efficient bitumen transport.
- Bitubox – Compact packaging solution for smaller orders or samples.
What is the minimum order quantity, and can you handle large-scale projects?
We cater to both mid-sized distributors and massive infrastructure projects. For bitutainer orders, the minimum is typically one 20-foot container (18–20 MT). While minimum order quantity varies by packaging type, our high-volume supply chain in Dubai allows us to consistently meet large-scale demands on tight project schedules.
What export documentation do you provide for customs clearance?
We provide a full set of professional documents, including the Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading, Certificate of Origin, and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). Our team ensures all paperwork is meticulously prepared to guarantee smooth customs clearance at the destination port.
What is the current price of bitumen per tonne from Dubai?
Bitumen prices fluctuate based on crude oil market rates, grade specification, order quantity, packaging type, and destination port. Black Rock Bitumen provides competitive FOB Dubai and CFR pricing tailored to your specific requirements. Contact our sales team for a real-time quote — we respond within 24 hours with a full Proforma Invoice detailing all costs.
How long does bitumen delivery take from Dubai to my country?
Standard production and loading lead time is 10–15 working days from order confirmation and advance payment receipt. Sea freight transit times vary by destination — typically 5–7 days to GCC and Middle East countries, 7–10 days to East Africa, 12–18 days to West Africa, 5–8 days to South Asia, and 18–25 days to Southeast Asia. Our logistics team provides vessel tracking and estimated arrival notifications throughout the shipment.
Where does Black Rock Bitumen source its bitumen from?
We source our bitumen directly from licensed refineries operating within the UAE and the broader Gulf region. All production facilities are vetted for compliance with international trade regulations. Each batch is tested at an accredited laboratory before shipment, and the Certificate of Analysis confirms the refinery source and grade specifications.
Which bitumen grade is best for road construction in hot climates?
For road construction in high-temperature climates — such as the Middle East, West Africa, and South Asia — we recommend Penetration Grade Bitumen 60/70 or Viscosity Grade VG-30 as the standard choice. For heavily trafficked roads or airport runways in extreme heat, Polymer Modified Bitumen (PMB) with SBS modification offers superior rutting resistance. Our technical team provides free grade consultation based on your climate zone, traffic load, and project specification.
Which countries does Black Rock Bitumen export to?
We actively export bitumen to contractors and distributors across Africa — including Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Cameroon, Algeria, Angola, and Botswana — as well as South Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka), Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines), and the Middle East. Dubai's strategic location at Jebel Ali Port enables cost-efficient shipping to over 40 countries. Contact us to confirm availability and freight rates to your specific destination port.
Do you supply Bitumen 60/70 and what are its specifications?
Yes, Bitumen 60/70 is our most exported grade. It meets ASTM D946 and EN 12591 specifications with a penetration value of 60–70 dmm at 25°C, softening point of 49–56°C, and flash point above 232°C. It is widely used in asphalt concrete for road construction, highway surfacing, and airport pavements in tropical and temperate climates. We supply Bitumen 60/70 in drums, jumbo bags, and bitutainers with a full Certificate of Analysis on every shipment.
