What Is Cutback SC-3000 Bitumen?

Cutback SC-3000 is a slow-curing bitumen made by blending penetration-grade bitumen with a very high binder content, making it the heaviest and most viscous grade in the SC series. Despite this thickness, its slow curing still allows for excellent adhesion and long-lasting performance under demanding conditions.

A kinematic viscosity of 800–1600 mm²/s at 60°C, paired with a flash point of 70°C or higher, allows SC-3000 to be handled safely at this heavier consistency while depositing an exceptionally thick, durable binder film. This makes it well-suited to high-stress applications requiring maximum coating thickness.

SC-3000 is typically supplied to ASTM standards, with a negative spot test confirming solvent compatibility. It’s the grade of choice for heavy-duty spray sealing, industrial roads, and demanding road construction and maintenance works.
