What is SS-1H Bitumen Emulsion?
SS-1H (Slow Setting – Grade 1 High Viscosity) is an anionic bitumen emulsion formulated with a negative electrical charge, allowing it to interact effectively with positively charged aggregates.
Key characteristics:
- Slow-breaking emulsion → allows extended mixing and application time
- Higher viscosity than SS-1 → thicker coating and improved durability
- Harder residue (“H” grade) → better performance in hot climates and heavy-duty use
- Water-based system → safe, energy-efficient, and easy to apply
Unlike rapid-setting emulsions:
- SS-1H does not break immediately
- Enables uniform aggregate coating before curing
- Ideal for mixing, stabilization, and sealing applications
Applications of SS-1H Emulsion
Tack Coat
Slurry Seal
Cold Mix Asphalt
Sub-base Stabilization
