What Is PG 70-22 Bitumen?
PG 70-22 is a Performance Grade asphalt binder engineered for wide temperature swings — resisting deformation up to 70°C while staying crack-resistant down to −22°C. This rating makes it the most cold-tolerant PG70 binder, suited to regions with severe seasonal extremes.
A viscosity ceiling of 0.3 Pa·s at 135°C, alongside the same dynamic shear (1.00–2.20 kPa) and PAV aging requirements as its siblings, is what confirms this binder pumps and compacts easily during construction while still resisting rutting and fatigue cracking once in service.
This classification — governed by ASTM D6373, D4402, D92, and D2042 test methods — enables engineers and procurement teams to specify an exact performance binder for highways, expressways, and heavy-traffic roads exposed to varying climatic conditions.
