Bitumen 75/25

Bitumen 75/25 is a high-quality air-blown (oxidized) bitumen produced through a controlled process of blowing hot air through straight-run bitumen at elevated temperatures, resulting in a product with a significantly higher softening point and lower penetration compared to its feedstock.

    What is Bitumen 75/25?

With a softening point of 75–85°C and a penetration of 20–30 dmm, this grade offers an excellent balance between hardness and residual flexibility — making it particularly well-suited for roofing felt manufacturing, bituminous adhesives, and rigid insulation board lamination.

As a premium UAE-based oxidized bitumen supplier, we source this grade from world-class refineries and subject it to rigorous quality testing before dispatch. Bitumen 75/25 is used extensively across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa by roofing membrane manufacturers, adhesive formulators, and EPC contractors seeking a reliable, cost-effective waterproofing binder.

    Applications of Bitumen 75/25

    • Roofing felts, bituminous felt underlay, and saturant base coat for roof decks
Bituminous adhesives for mineral wool and polystyrene insulation boards
Noise-damping underbody coatings for automotive and rail applications
Protective coatings for buried concrete and masonry foundations

    Advantages of Bitumen 200/300

EN 12591 (European Standard) classifies penetration grade bitumen by its penetration value and softening point range. Black Rock Bitumen supplies all major EN grades, tested and certified for export from our Dubai logistics hub.

Elevated softening point (75–85°C) prevents flow or deformation in warm roofing environments.
Low penetration value (20–30 dmm) provides a firm, hard matrix that resists indentation and creep
Outstanding adhesion to fibreglass, polyester, jute, and mineral-coated substrates used in roofing felts
High resistance to UV oxidation and weathering aging, extending service life of roofing systems.
Compatible with SBS/APP polymers for upgrade to polymer-modified bituminous membranes.
Good processability at 180–200°C without significant fume emission above safety thresholds.

      Frequently Asked Questions.

Oxidized Bitumen Grade 75/25 offers high softening point, enhanced durability, and reliable performance for industrial waterproofing applications.

It is most widely used in the manufacture of roofing felts, bituminous adhesives for insulation boards, and vapour control layer laminates in commercial and residential roofing systems.

How does oxidized bitumen differ from penetration-grade bitumen?

Oxidized (air-blown) bitumen is produced by passing hot air through straight-run bitumen. This process increases the softening point and reduces the penetration, creating a harder, more heat-resistant product with reduced temperature susceptibility compared to conventional paving-grade bitumen.

The first number (75) denotes the nominal softening point in °C (actual range 75–85°C), and the second number (25) denotes the nominal penetration in 0.1 mm units (actual range 20–30 dmm).

Yes. Its 75–85°C softening point means the membrane will not soften or flow under typical roof surface temperatures encountered in hot climates (Middle East, South Asia, Africa), where roof surface temperatures can reach 70–75°C in summer.

Yes. It is compatible with SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene) and APP (atactic polypropylene) modifiers to produce polymer-modified bituminous membranes with enhanced elasticity and cold-crack resistance.

Yes. A full Technical Data Sheet (TDS), Safety Data Sheet (SDS/MSDS), and Certificate of Analysis (COA) are provided with every order.

Our Bitumen 75/25 is produced in compliance with ASTM D312, ASTM D36, BS EN 13304, and ISO 4630. ISO 9001:2015 QMS certification is maintained at our supply facility.

Under proper storage conditions — kept in sealed packaging, away from direct sunlight and extreme moisture, at ambient temperature — the product retains its specification for a minimum of 12–18 months from date of manufacture.

Yes. For bulk orders (typically > 20 MT), we can formulate custom grades with adjusted softening point or penetration targets. Contact our technical team to discuss your requirements.
