Choosing packaging

Choosing drums for your project

Steel drums are the most flexible way to receive bitumen when your site has no heated bulk storage. Each drum can be stored at ambient temperature, moved with a forklift or by hand-trolley, and melted only when the paving crew needs it, so there is little waste on small or phased projects. Drums also travel well on long inland routes and through ports with limited handling equipment.

Handling and storage tips
Store drums upright, off the ground and under cover to keep out water.
Rotate stock on a first-in, first-out basis.
Heat gradually and never above the maximum temperature stated in the product TDS.
