What is Bitumen 90/25?
Bitumen 90/25 occupies a critical performance position within the 90-series: with a softening point of 90–100°C and a penetration of 20–30 dmm, it delivers the very high thermal resistance of the 90-series combined with a penetration level that allows it to be used for both industrial coating and high-performance roofing applications.
This dual utility makes it one of the most versatile grades in the hard oxidized bitumen family. For roofing membrane manufacturers targeting the hottest climate zones — where roof surface temperatures can approach 80°C — and who need the absolute maximum softening point available in a standard oxidized bitumen grade, Bitumen 90/25 is the definitive specification.
It is also widely used as the primary binder in industrial equipment protective coatings, high-temperature pipe systems, and as a base bitumen where very high APP or SBS polymer loadings require a hard base matrix to control final membrane softening point.
