    What is Bitumen 90/25?

Bitumen 90/25 occupies a critical performance position within the 90-series: with a softening point of 90–100°C and a penetration of 20–30 dmm, it delivers the very high thermal resistance of the 90-series combined with a penetration level that allows it to be used for both industrial coating and high-performance roofing applications.

This dual utility makes it one of the most versatile grades in the hard oxidized bitumen family.  For roofing membrane manufacturers targeting the hottest climate zones — where roof surface temperatures can approach 80°C — and who need the absolute maximum softening point available in a standard oxidized bitumen grade, Bitumen 90/25 is the definitive specification.

It is also widely used as the primary binder in industrial equipment protective coatings, high-temperature pipe systems, and as a base bitumen where very high APP or SBS polymer loadings require a hard base matrix to control final membrane softening point.

    Applications of Bitumen 90/25

    Hot-Climate Roofing

Premium torch-on APP roofing membranes for extreme hot-climate markets (Gulf, MENA, Sahara region)

    Flat Roof Waterproofing

High-performance flat roof waterproofing for hospitals, warehouses, and logistics centres

    Pipeline Coatings

Industrial pipeline anti-corrosion coating in high-temperature buried service

    Industrial Coatings

Protective coating for industrial structures in hot and arid environments

    Advantages of Bitumen 90/25

Bitumen 90/25 serves a wide spectrum of construction, industrial, and infrastructure

    Extreme Heat Performance

Highest practical softening point for roofing-grade oxidized bitumen (90–100°C) — premier grade for extreme climate membrane systems

    Balanced Hardness

Penetration of 20–30 dmm balances the hardness needed for roofing stability with processability in coating and membrane applications

    Thermal Stability

Exceptional thermal stability: roof membrane will not soften, blister, or flow even on the most intensely sun-heated surfaces

    UV Resistance

Superior resistance to UV degradation and atmospheric oxidation

    Processing Efficiency

Superior resistance to UV degradation and atmospheric oxidation

    Strong Adhesion

Excellent coating and impregnation behaviour at 190–210°C processing temperatures

      Frequently Asked Questions.

Oxidized Bitumen Grade 90/25 is a hard, high-softening bitumen designed for industrial waterproofing, insulation, and corrosion-resistant applications.

Oxidized Bitumen 90/25 is air-blown bitumen with a softening point of 90°C and penetration of 25, offering high heat resistance and durability.

What are the main applications of Bitumen 90/25?

It is widely used in roofing membranes, waterproofing systems, pipe coating, insulation boards, and industrial sealing applications.

Grade 90/25 provides a balanced combination of hardness and flexibility, making it ideal for moderate to high-temperature environments.

Yes. Its high softening point ensures excellent thermal stability and resistance to deformation in hot and extreme climate conditions.

It is commonly supplied in solid form, packed in cartons, bags, or drums, and can also be provided in bulk upon request.

Coated surfaces should not continuously exceed 80–85°C. The 90–100°C softening point provides a safe performance margin above this level.

Yes. Bitumen 90/25 complies with ASTM D312 and BS EN 13304 specification for industrial oxidized bitumen.

200–220°C for torch application. Ensure full melt and flow of the lower membrane surface before bonding.

Yes. We regularly export to membrane manufacturers in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and West Africa.

Yes. Hot tanker supply at 185–200°C is available for large membrane production facilities.
