Overview

A stiff binder for heat and heavy traffic

AR-4000 Bitumen is an aged-residue grade under ASTM D3381. It is graded by the viscosity at 60°C of the binder after rolling thin-film oven ageing, which reflects how the binder behaves after mixing and laying. The number is the nominal viscosity in poise at 60°C of the aged residue (AR-4000 = about 4,000 poise).

Its high viscosity gives a stiff, stable binder that resists rutting and deformation under heavy loads and high pavement temperatures.
