Bitumen 75/35

Bitumen 75/35 is a versatile air-blown bitumen grade that bridges the gap between hard (low-penetration) and flexible (higher-penetration) oxidized bitumen products. With a softening point of 75–85°C and a penetration of 30–40 dmm, it provides a slightly softer film compared to the 75/25 grade, enabling better cold-weather flexibility without sacrificing the heat resistance necessary for warm-climate roofing applications.

    What is Bitumen 75/35?

This grade is a preferred choice for flat-roof waterproofing membrane manufacturers who need a base bitumen that can be applied at lower processing temperatures, bond strongly to substrate fleeces, and remain pliable enough to accommodate minor structural settlement without cracking.

Exported from our UAE facility to over 50 countries, Bitumen 75/35 meets the stringent quality requirements of international standards including ASTM D312 Type II and BS EN 13304.

Flexible roofing membranes, multi-layer waterproofing systems, damp-proof courses (DPC), bituminous felt underlay, and base coats for SBS-modified membranes.

    Applications of Bitumen 75/35

Flexible bituminous roofing membranes (torch-on and cold-applied)
Multi-layer flat roof waterproofing systems for commercial and industrial buildings
Damp-proof courses and damp-proof membranes in masonry construction
Bituminous felt impregnation and saturant for roofing felt manufacturing

    Advantages of Bitumen 200/300

EN 12591 (European Standard) classifies penetration grade bitumen by its penetration value and softening point range. Black Rock Bitumen supplies all major EN grades, tested and certified for export from our Dubai logistics hub.

Softening point of 75–85°C ensures dimensional stability on hot rooftop surfaces in tropical and arid climates
Higher penetration (30–40 dmm) vs 75/25 grade allows improved cold-temperature flexibility, reducing risk of cracking in winter
Strong adhesion to polyester fleece, glass fibre, and mineral surfacing used in finished roofing membranes.
Excellent waterproofing integrity — low moisture vapour permeability and high hydrostatic resistance.
Low temperature susceptibility — consistent viscosity behaviour across operating temperature range.
Compatible with APP and SBS polymer modification for enhanced elastomeric performance

      Frequently Asked Questions.

Bitumen 75/35 is a hard paving bitumen grade with a 35 (0.1mm) penetration and a softening point around 75°C. This bitumen grade is generally used for high-temperature road construction.

Primarily for flexible roofing membrane manufacturing, multi-layer flat roof waterproofing, damp-proof courses, and bituminous felt saturant production.

How does 75/35 differ from 75/25?

The penetration is higher (30–40 dmm vs 20–30 dmm), meaning 75/35 is slightly softer and more flexible, particularly at lower temperatures, while retaining the same heat resistance (75–85°C softening point).

Yes. Its higher penetration relative to 75/25 improves cold-temperature flexibility, making it suitable for roofing systems installed in temperate climates with seasonal temperature variation.

Absolutely. Bitumen 75/35 is an excellent base for both SBS- and APP-modified bituminous membranes, offering good polymer compatibility and consistent blending behaviour.

Yes. Bitumen 75/35 is produced to comply with BS EN 13304 (oxidized bitumen for industrial applications), in addition to ASTM D312 Type II.

Recommended melt and application temperature is 170–195°C depending on substrate and application method. Exceeding 220°C for prolonged periods is not recommended.

Yes. We regularly export to roofing membrane manufacturers in Europe, the Middle East, South and Southeast Asia, and East Africa.

Typically 7–14 working days ex-works UAE, with an additional 10–21 days sea freight depending on destination port.

Yes. A full TDS, MSDS/SDS, and COA are available upon request and are provided with every shipment.
