What Is Cutback MC 250?
Cutback MC 250 is a medium-curing cutback bitumen made by blending penetration-grade bitumen with less volatile solvents, giving it a higher kinematic viscosity of 250–600 mm²/s at 60°C. This slower curing rate allows for controlled coating and stronger long-term bonding.
Its residue shows a penetration of 120–260 (0.1mm) and minimum ductility of 100cm at 25°C, with a flash point of at least 68°C for safer handling. A negative spot test confirms stable, consistent quality.
MC 250 is commonly used for prime coats, surface treatments, road maintenance, and rehabilitation work, including medium to high-traffic pavements. Compared to MC 70, it offers higher viscosity and slower curing, resulting in better binder retention and stronger adhesion.
