What is Bitumen 30/45?
Bitumen 30/45 is a penetration grade paving bitumen defined by a penetration value of 30–45 (0.1mm at 25°C) under ASTM D5. This penetration range makes Bitumen 30/45 harder than standard grades like 40/60, giving it exceptional resistance to deformation under sustained heavy traffic loads.
Black Rock Bitumen 30/45 carries a softening point of 52–60°C (ASTM D36) and ductility above 100cm (ASTM D113), ensuring flexibility without cracking. These properties make Bitumen 30/45 especially reliable for highways, expressways, and industrial roads operating in hot, high-temperature climate conditions.
Compared to softer grades, Bitumen 30/45 offers greater rutting resistance and long-term structural stability under heavy axle loads. Supplied in jumbo bags, drums, and bulk bitutainers, Bitumen 30/45 is certified to ASTM standards, making it a dependable binder choice for infrastructure and EPC contractors.
