Bitumen Grade AH130 — Penetration-Grade Asphalt Binder for Standard Paving

AH130 bitumen is a 130/160 penetration-grade binder manufactured in the UAE, offering strong adhesion and workability for standard road paving and construction projects. Supplied and exported by Black Rock Bitumen, Dubai — serving contractors across the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.

What Is Bitumen Grade AH130?

Bitumen Grade AH130 is a Chinese-standard penetration-grade bitumen made from crude oil, classified by a penetration value of 120–140 (0.1mm) at 25°C. This medium penetration range gives it a balance of workability and durability suited to general paving needs.

It has a minimum softening point of 40°C and minimum ductility of 100cm at 25°C, providing good adhesion and flexibility under standard road conditions. Its low loss on heating (max 0.5 wt.%) and negative spot test result confirm stable, consistent quality.

AH130 is commonly used in general road paving, asphalt mixtures, surface treatments, and hot mix asphalt applications. It performs well in moderate climates and moderate traffic, with heavier traffic loads typically requiring harder or modified grades.

BlackRock Bitumen supplies Bitumen 等级 AH130 worldwide, delivering consistent quality for global road construction projects.

Bitumen Grade AH130 is a penetration-grade asphalt binder derived from crude oil, with a penetration value of 120–140 (0.1mm) at 25°C. It falls under the Chinese penetration-grade classification system and is used as a base binder in road construction and paving.

What are the key technical specifications of AH130 bitumen?

AH130 has a specific gravity of 1.01–1.06 at 25°C, softening point of 40°C minimum, ductility of 100cm minimum at 25°C, flash point of 230°C minimum, and solubility in trichloroethylene of 99% minimum, per ASTM test methods (D70, D5, D36, D113, D92, D2042)

AH130 bitumen has a penetration range of 120–140 (in 0.1mm units) measured at 25°C under 100g load for 5 seconds, tested per ASTM D5. This makes it one of the softer grades in the AH bitumen series.

AH130 is commonly used for general road paving, hot mix asphalt production, asphalt mixtures, and surface treatments, particularly in projects requiring a softer, more workable binder.

AH130 bitumen performs best in moderate to cooler climate conditions, where its softer penetration grade provides good flexibility without excessive softening under heat.

AH130 is best suited for low to moderate traffic roads. Heavy traffic or high-load applications typically require harder penetration grades (such as AH70 or AH90) or polymer-modified bitumen for greater rutting resistance.

AH130 has the highest penetration value (120–140) among the standard AH grades, making it the softest and most flexible. Lower-numbered grades like AH50 and AH70 are harder and stiffer, suited for hotter climates and heavier traffic.

Yes, AH130 is commonly used in hot mix asphalt applications as a base binder, offering good adhesion and workability during mixing and compaction.
